re: G20 and policing in general
I completely agree, it seems that the police have become too arrogant in the status that their uniform and badge gives. It is not a status of power to exercise their will but of duty to help their friends and neighbours. In accepting that duty they agree to enforce our laws, not to make and manipulate them. No job should put people above morality. We are not paying to be punished for their fantasies. They are our police, we are not their criminals.

I believe that the causes of knife crime are relatively easy to understand, but ridiculasly complex in effects and and suitable punishment.
Firstly, knife crime is reliant upon there being readily available knives, some imported or made in England.
Secondly, knife crime is on the increase because of the media reporting on the amount of knife crime in major cities, if you were under the impression that everyone in Manchester (for example) had a knife, would you not wish to have one also, to feel safe? Even if you disagree with this mindset, it is impossible to ignore that the majoraty of young people in English cities believe this.
Finally, there can be no set way of punishing those who partake in knife crime, the circumstances mitigate by huge degrees and many of the perpetrators are underage, so of course this must be taken into consideration.
